Manager, Medical Director Assistants (MDA Mgr.)

PRINCIPLE PURPOSE OF JOB: The principal purpose of the MDA Manager is to lead, inspire, and enable the team supporting the Medical Directors and clients in researching and ensuring that all the client payment policies are accurate, up-to-date and complete. This manager is also responsible for driving down errors, improving what we do and how we do our work through people, processes and applications; meeting and exceeding the expectations of our internal and external customers; and, empowering our teams for performance excellence.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities
Effectively implements and applies iHT's Talent Management methodology to develop and manage a high performing team
- Hiring:
- Utilizes screening, support, CIDS, reference interviews and debriefing meetings to select high performers.
- Adapts Scorecard to individual.
- Effectively recruits, hires and on-boards and develops people based on an agreed plan.
- Management:
- Conducts talent inventory.
- Matches assignments to individual.
- Makes decisions and takes timely action to reallocate assignments (resulting in "A" performance or other performance management action).
- Understands and uses the Situational Leadership II model.
Establish a strong operational foundation for the department.
- Develop and implement processes that result in improved performance.
- Define assignments clearly and with deadlines, expectations and metrics.
- Report on progress to plan regularly.
Develop and implement creative solutions that support and promote our core Values in Action while eliminating barriers.
- Impact Performance Excellence and Continuous Improvement with vigorous participation on Process Committees.
- Build internal relationships with other departments and advocate for the MDA team
Coordinate and ensure the timely and quality delivery of mission critical assignments

REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to learn iHT's capabilities, requirements and limitations quickly.
- Strong listening, written and oral communication skills.
- Facilitated session leadership skills.
- Highly organized and able to manage and prioritize many tasks.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Enjoys working with data in fast paced organization
- Ability to motivate others to excel.
- Can manage a cross-functional team in a matrixed environment.
- Builds credibility and establishes influence with internal team members and client team members in a way that leads individuals to solicit and follow advice or direction.
- Strong knowledge and capability for process improvement, process management, and measurement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Direct supervisory and management experience for 5 to 8 years of professional staff
- 5 to 10 years of healthcare experience
- Broad range of experience in coding professional service-multiple specialties (preferred)
- Working knowledge of CMS and CCI in payment policy management (preferred)
- Understanding of claims processing and utilization management
- Direct working relationships with physicians
- Four-year undergraduate degree.
JOB DEMANDS:
- Minimum requirement to travel.
- Work from iHT office majority of time.
- Ability to work seated at a computer for long periods of time.
- After hours and/or weekend work required where necessary for major deliverables/deadlines (not consistent).
KEY CONSTITUENTS:
- Direct reports - Medical Director Assistant (6 - 8), includes some remote staff
- Works with all iHT business teams but especially Medical Directors, Medical Policy and Client Services.
